Yes. Colin Fassnidge and Manu Feildel described themselves as friends on and off screen, with their bond shaped by cooking for each other, trading recipes and teasing one another. During filming in Western Australia, they also made Cottesloe part of their morning routine: a swim, a jog along the beach and coffee overlooking the ocean. Their interviews named the area, but not a particular café.
Fassnidge and Feildel’s relationship is a friendship
In a PerthNow interview published on 2 September 2024, Fassnidge described an easy rapport with fellow My Kitchen Rules co-host Feildel. They shared recipes and cooked for one another while filming. Fassnidge said, “The show wouldn’t work if we didn’t get on. We’re quite lucky. And it does come across that we are friends because you can’t fake that.” PerthNow’s interview with Fassnidge framed them as co-hosts in 2024; that description is specific to the time of publication.
A WHO interview published the following day reinforced that the friendship extended beyond the show. Feildel said, “We are friends on the outside as well as on-screen and that’s what makes it easy for us.” The pair also joked about their closeness with labels such as “work wife” and “wife without the sex.” The remarks were banter between friends and colleagues, not a suggestion of a romantic relationship. WHO’s interview with both chefs also discussed meals they had cooked for each other.
Where Fassnidge and Feildel spent mornings in Perth
Fassnidge’s Perth hangout was Cottesloe. Because filming began in the afternoon, he said the two tried to get up around 6:30 a.m. and head to the beach. Their routine was a morning swim, a jog along the sand and coffee while looking out at the ocean. Fassnidge recalled: “We’d have a little jog along the beach too, two old men, and then we’d have a coffee down there in the morning and just look at the ocean.”

He joked, “You know the problem with Perth? It’s too far away.” The interview identifies Cottesloe as the setting for their routine, but does not name the café. It describes a personal hangout, not a specific venue recommendation or review.
