What made the segment memorable was its mix of genuine personal news and Naomi’s brash wrestling persona: after sharing the announcement, she teased Raw General Manager Adam Pearce, played to the crowd, and warned the next champion to “proceed with caution.”
How Naomi revealed the news
The moment began with a preview of Stephanie McMahon’s What’s Your Story? podcast featuring Naomi and her husband, Jimmy Uso. In the clip, Jimmy announced they were having a baby. Naomi then came to the ring carrying her championship and confirmed the news herself. The announcement aired from Philadelphia’s Xfinity Mobile Arena on Monday, August 18, 2025. WWE’s official segment page identifies the date and presents the full segment; F4W’s live report describes the podcast preview and in-arena confirmation.
The pregnancy was real-life news, not a storyline twist. The confrontational exchange that followed, by contrast, was Naomi performing as her outspoken on-screen character.
Why she gave up the Women’s World Championship
Naomi had arrived as Women’s World Champion, but her pregnancy meant she could not continue holding the title. WWE’s video description states that she had to relinquish it. After addressing Pearce, she set the championship down in the ring, making the consequence of the announcement immediate and visible. The official WWE clip documents the title relinquishment.

The change also altered the division’s immediate plans. Naomi had won the championship at Evolution by cashing in her Money in the Bank contract, then retained it in a triple threat against IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley at SummerSlam. She had been slated to defend against Stephanie Vaquer at Clash in Paris on August 31; with Naomi relinquishing the title, that planned match was affected. F4W’s report provides this championship context.

Pearce got congratulations—and trouble
Pearce congratulated Naomi, but she quickly turned the exchange into a comic confrontation. F4W’s report transcribed her saying, “I ain’t handing you shit,” before telling Pearce to leave her ring and inviting the audience to sing him out. The joke worked because the real announcement and the in-character bravado sat side by side: Naomi was celebrating major personal news while still treating the ring like her territory.

She made the celebration part of the story
Naomi also joked that the women backstage should thank Jimmy and added, “On the bright side, I guess the Bloodline continues, baby!” The line folded her family news into WWE’s wrestling world without making the pregnancy itself fictional. As F4W reported, the crowd congratulated her, while she continued to steer the moment with humor and swagger.
She left the division with a warning
After setting down the title, Naomi made clear that she intended to pursue it again when she returned. Her short closing warning—“Proceed with caution”—was a neat bridge from a heartfelt announcement back to a championship rivalry. F4W also reported that WWE repeated the phrase in a social post about the segment. F4W’s account includes the promo’s reported wording and the social-post reference.
