The sources reviewed do not support the claim that Joey Lawrence had cancer. Lawrence said he shaved his head to give himself more flexibility for acting roles, and later clarified that he was not bald, though his hair was thinner than before. Those interviews do not establish his complete medical history.
Why did Joey Lawrence shave his head?
In a February 23, 2007 interview with Philadelphia Magazine, Lawrence said he chose to shave his head so he could be a “neutral palette” for acting. With a shaved head, he explained, it was easier to wear wigs for different characters.
“I just decided to shave it off and be a neutral palette when it comes to acting. I can wear any sort of wig that I want now when I play a character. It’s a heck of a lot easier.”
Was Joey Lawrence actually bald?
In a 2012 interview republished by Michelle Vaccaro, Lawrence said people had started thinking he was bald, so he grew his hair out a little. He described it as less thick than before, but said, “it’s not bald.” Read the interview.

A 2015 Enstarz report also quoted him on people thinking he was bald and on his hair being thinner. That is secondary corroboration of his comments, not a medical statement.
Do these sources say he had cancer?
No. The cited interviews discuss his decision to shave his head and his comments about his hair; none reports a cancer diagnosis or provides a statement about his complete medical history. A shaved head or thinner hair, by itself, cannot establish that someone has cancer.
