Morrissey cancelled performances scheduled for September 19 and 20, 2025, at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut and MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston. A post on his official account, quoted by ITV News, said there had been a “credible threat on Morrissey’s life” and described the Foxwoods cancellation as a safety precaution. The shows are in the past; this is not a notice of current cancellations.
Which Morrissey shows were cancelled?
- Foxwoods Resort Casino: Mashantucket, Connecticut, Friday, September 19, 2025.
- MGM Music Hall at Fenway: Boston, Massachusetts, Saturday, September 20, 2025.

What reason did Morrissey’s announcement give?
As quoted by ITV News from Morrissey’s official Facebook account, the announcement said: “In recent days there has been a credible threat on Morrissey’s life.” It added that the Foxwoods engagement was cancelled “out of an abundance of caution for the safety of both the artist and audience.”
A follow-up notice, also quoted by ITV News, said the Foxwoods and MGM Music Hall shows had been cancelled “out of an abundance of caution for the safety of both the artist and band.” The statements give the announced rationale; the notice did not describe the threat or identify who made it.

Was the cancellation connected to the Ottawa threat allegation?
That connection was not established in contemporaneous reporting. The Guardian’s September 19, 2025 account reported that a 26-year-old man had been charged after allegedly threatening Morrissey before his September 12 Ottawa performance. The Ottawa show went ahead. The reported charge is an allegation, not a finding of guilt, and available reports did not confirm that it prompted or was related to the later US cancellations.
