Players help her defend ocean creatures by tracing spell symbols over spirits, moving through five named levels to face the Big Boss ghost.
What is the 2020 Halloween Google Doodle?
It is the second Magic Cat Academy game. Google’s official 2020 Doodle page says the story picks up where the 2016 game left off: Momo confronts the Big Boss ghost and its school of ghouls beneath the ocean. The setting shifts from the original’s school to an underwater adventure, with aquatic opponents along the way.
How do I play the 2020 Halloween Google Doodle?
Swipe the symbols shown over spirits to cast spells and protect the ocean’s creatures. Google described the game as: “Swim and swipe to PURR-tect the ocean and its creatures before it’s too late!” In contemporaneous coverage, 9to5Google explained that players could trace the symbols with a finger or mouse cursor; it also reported that a laptop trackpad worked. That describes play at launch, not a guarantee about how every device or browser works now.
What are the five levels and their opponents?
| Level | Named stage | Opponent or encounter |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Sunlight Zone | Immortal Jellyfish |
| 2 | Twilight Zone | Boops Boops |
| 3 | Midnight Zone | Vampire Squid |
| 4 | The Abyss | Anglerfish |
| 5 | The Trenches | Big Boss showdown |
These names and encounters are listed on Google’s official 2020 Doodle page. The levels carry the story from the sunlit ocean down to the trenches, where Momo faces the Big Boss.
