Morgan Wallen was arrested in April 2024 after Nashville police alleged he threw a chair from the roof of a downtown bar, landing near two officers. He was initially charged with three felonies and one misdemeanor. In December 2024, he pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment and was sentenced to seven days at a DUI education center and two years of supervised probation. Police footage released in 2025 showed Wallen denying that he threw the chair.
What police alleged after the April 2024 incident
The incident occurred on April 7, 2024, at Chief’s, a six-story bar in downtown Nashville. According to the arrest affidavit summarized by the Associated Press, the chair landed about three feet from two police officers. Witnesses told officers they had seen Wallen pick up and throw it. Those details were allegations recorded in the police account, not a finding that he intended to hit the officers.

Wallen was booked on April 8. The Metro Nashville Police Department, as cited by AP, reported that the initial charges were three felony counts of reckless endangerment and one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct. AP’s April 8, 2024 report summarizes the arrest and initial charges.
How the case ended in court
On December 12, 2024, Wallen pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment. AP reported that the court sentenced him to seven days at a DUI education center and two years of supervised probation. His attorney said successful completion of probation would make the charges eligible for dismissal and expungement; that was a statement about possible future eligibility, not confirmation that either action occurred.

AP’s report on the plea and sentence records the December 2024 disposition.
What the later police footage showed
In an October 1, 2025 report, AP said police body-camera and cruiser-camera footage released in response to its public-records request showed Wallen denying to officers, both before and after his arrest, that he had thrown the chair. That denial is part of the account of the incident; it does not change the subsequent guilty plea to two misdemeanor reckless-endangerment counts.

After the arrest, Wallen also said, “I’m not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility,” in a public statement quoted by AP. The report says he also referred to making amends. AP’s October 2025 coverage describes the footage and recalls the plea.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is probation complete, or were the charges dismissed?
The available reporting establishes the sentence and the possibility of dismissal and expungement after successful completion of probation, but does not establish whether Wallen completed probation or whether a court later dismissed or expunged the charges. It would therefore be inaccurate to describe the case as dismissed or expunged based on these reports alone.
