Copeland’s outfit combined the lines of a tailored jacket with ballet-inspired volume. Forbes described a structured black blazer with a plunging V-neckline and white tulle trim, paired with a white skirt. Forbes’ March 16 Oscars coverage identifies the look as custom and designed by David Koma.

How the built-in tutu effect worked
InStyle, in a report carried by AOL, described layers of pleated ivory fabric attached at the waist as creating a built-in tutu effect. It also noted a white column skirt, shoulder pads and an ultra-plunging neckline.
