Vernearth is a surrealist Minecraft multiplayer world created by M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan, Slipknot’s founding member. October 2025 coverage announced a planned late-October opening, but that announcement does not establish when the world actually opened or whether it is online now. A third-party directory listed a server address and reported it online in September 2026; treat that as a lead, not official confirmation.
What is Vernearth?
Vernearth was presented as a surrealist Minecraft experience: a world to explore, build in and fight through. Its description named mysterious beings called Mind Stewards and claimed the environment contained “Over 100 million blocks.” That figure comes from project copy reproduced by Insider Gaming; it has not been independently verified.
Crahan described the idea as “a place that has been set up to explore your own existence,” according to The Escapist. The project was framed as his creative work beyond his role in Slipknot.
Who created Vernearth?
M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan, a founding member of Slipknot, was identified as Vernearth’s creator in October 2025 coverage. The project was not described simply as a Slipknot band release; it was presented as Crahan’s separate creative undertaking.

Did Vernearth open, and how can you try to join?
Reports published October 10, 2025 said the world was planned to open later that month. A planned opening is not proof of the date it went live. A third-party listing at MCStat.org gives the address play.vernearth.com and reported the server online in September 2026. The listing is not an official status page and does not establish current availability, rules, or which features work.
- Use Minecraft Java Edition and add
play.vernearth.comas a multiplayer server address if you want to check the listing. - Check whether the server appears online and whether its current version accepts your client before relying on access. The directory report is dated September 2026, so status may have changed.
The Escapist reported that Vernearth was built in Java Edition 1.21.4. This is a historical build detail, not confirmation of the server’s present version or the only client version it accepts. The available reporting does not establish Bedrock compatibility.

Is Vernearth a Minecraft Realm or a community server?
Coverage called Vernearth a “Realm,” but that word alone does not confirm that it uses Mojang’s paid Realms service. Minecraft defines Realms as private, cloud-hosted servers; its official information also distinguishes Java and Bedrock Realms. Separately, Minecraft describes community-created multiplayer servers, and the Vernearth directory lists a server address. The exact hosting arrangement for Vernearth has not been officially confirmed.
That distinction matters if you are deciding what to install or how to connect: a Realms subscription and joining a community server are not interchangeable. Minecraft’s official Realms information says Java Realms support play across Windows, Mac and Linux. As of October 8, 2026, it listed Java Realms at $7.99 USD per month for up to 10 simultaneous players; those are general Realms service details, not Vernearth access terms. Minecraft’s server information covers community servers and explains that Java and Bedrock players can access existing servers through the server menu, but that does not establish Vernearth’s edition support.

What Minecraft version do you need?
The launch coverage specifies Java Edition 1.21.4 as the version in which Vernearth was built. It does not establish the current server version or the exact client versions it accepts. If connecting through the listed address, use Java Edition and check the server’s current compatibility; do not assume that Bedrock Edition or a Realms subscription will work.
