A fan-made poster reported in December 2024 imagines Milly Alcock’s Supergirl taking to the skies in artwork inspired by the first official one-sheet for James Gunn’s Superman. It is not a DC release: it is a visual fan-art response to Superman’s poster, distinct from the official Supergirl teaser poster that followed in 2025.
The fan poster and the Superman one-sheet
ComicBookMovie reported on December 17, 2024, that artwork by the creator handle Megaversopop showed Alcock as Supergirl taking to the skies. The report described it as fan-made and said it drew inspiration from the official Superman one-sheet, released the day before. The comparison is therefore a reported point of inspiration—not evidence that DC commissioned the image or that the two posters are identical.
The visual idea links the heroes through a shared upward, airborne image: Superman’s official poster supplied the reference, while the fan artwork recasts that kind of heroic flight around Kara Zor-El. That makes the piece a fan-made conversation between the cousins’ screen identities, rather than an official preview of the film’s campaign. ComicBookMovie’s report identifies the artwork and its stated inspiration.
How it differs from the official Supergirl teaser poster
DC’s official Supergirl teaser poster is a separate image. In July 2025, The Comics Beat described Alcock wearing a trench coat over her Supergirl costume, an element drawn from the first issue of the source comic. The outlet also noted graffiti that changes Superman’s “Look up” tagline to “Look out.” Those details belong to the official teaser, not to the earlier fan poster.

The distinction matters: the fan artwork was reported as an answer to Superman’s first one-sheet, while the official teaser uses the trench coat and altered slogan to signal its own take on Kara. The available descriptions do not establish that the fan art copied the official teaser’s composition—or that the fan artwork itself uses the “Look out” wording. The comic behind the film’s visual identity
The film draws on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, the comic by writer Tom King, artist Bilquis Evely, and colorist Matheus Lopes. In a June 2, 2026 artist spotlight, DC said the work inspired the DC Studios film and characterized the story as a reintroduction of Kara Zor-El with emotional depth, cosmic scale, and a bold visual identity. The source comic helps explain why a poster comparison can be about more than matching a pose: it points toward a version of Supergirl shaped by a particular story and visual world.

What the film’s character concept adds
The Associated Press describes the film as an intergalactic odyssey involving Kara, Krypto, and a young woman seeking revenge against Krem of the Yellow Hills. Craig Gillespie is the director. In the AP’s account of the character’s conception, DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran recalled James Gunn describing his idea for Supergirl as “a young punk rock girl who is just totally badass and tough.” Alcock, speaking about relating to Kara, said: “Kara surprisingly reminded me a lot of myself, which I never thought I would get from playing like a superhero, from playing someone who isn’t human.”

Those comments describe the film’s character and casting, not the Megaversopop fan poster. They nevertheless offer context for the contrast between a familiar image of a hero taking flight and a Supergirl presented as a distinct, tougher-edged character. The Associated Press report covers the film and the filmmakers’ and actor’s comments.
