Rory Vassallo confirmed in June 2019 that he and Renee Vassallo had separated after 17 years together. Asked why they split, the available report gives no reason. Rory called the separation amicable; Renee declined to comment to PerthNow.
What PerthNow reported about the separation
Krystal Sanders’s report for PerthNow, published at 9:05 a.m. on 1 June 2019, said the Perth couple had separated after 17 years together. Rory confirmed the separation to the newspaper and described it as amicable. That characterization is Rory’s, not an independently confirmed statement from Renee.
Renee declined to comment to PerthNow. The report did not give a reason for the separation, so it does not establish why the couple split.
What Rory said about their business
Rory told PerthNow: “We intend keeping the company we built together over 15 years as 50-50 partners indefinitely,” he said. This described their intention at the time of the 2019 report; it does not verify whether that arrangement continued.

For earlier business context, a 6 April 2014 feature in The West Australian described the couple’s childcare-centre venture and reported that they sold 22 centres to G8 Education in 2014.
Why PerthNow called Rory a millionaire
PerthNow reported that Rory, then 35, had debuted on BRW’s 2015 rich list with an estimated worth of $46 million, linked to his Great Beginnings childcare-centre portfolio. That is a historical estimate as PerthNow reported it, not a current net-worth figure or an independently verified valuation.

The same 2019 report said Rory became owner and chairman of baseball club Perth Heat in 2018 as part of a consortium, and had served as a South Fremantle Football Club director since 2013. These are roles reported at the time, not confirmation of his current positions.

The reporting describes the separation and the couple’s stated business intention in June 2019. It does not establish their present relationship status, current business arrangement, or the reason for their separation. PerthNow reported that they had two daughters, aged 10 and 7 in June 2019; those are the children’s ages at the time, not current ages.
