The representative said Tyson was “doing great” afterward, but that was a statement made at the time—not a current health update. The episode was followed by medical advice that postponed Tyson’s planned July fight with Jake Paul.
What happened on the flight
Tyson fell ill during the May 26, 2024 flight. His representative told the Associated Press that he became nauseous and dizzy about 30 minutes before landing and attributed the symptoms to an ulcer flare-up. AP’s report and CNN’s report relayed the representative’s account; the reports do not include an independent medical record or diagnosis.
American Airlines said the flight was met by first responders at Los Angeles International Airport “due to the medical needs of a customer,” according to AP. Tyson’s representative said Tyson appreciated the medical staff who assisted him.
Did Tyson’s medical episode delay the flight?
The representative disputed reports that Tyson’s medical needs caused a two-hour delay, saying the delay was due to an aircraft air-conditioning issue. That explanation came from Tyson’s representative; the airline’s reported statement confirmed that first responders met the flight, not the cause of any delay. AP reported both accounts.

What did “doing great” mean?
Tyson’s representative said, “Thankfully Mr. Tyson is doing great,” in the May 27, 2024 reporting. On May 28, Tyson posted, “Now feeling 100 percent, even though I don’t need to be to beat Jake Paul.” MMA Fighting reported Tyson’s post. Both statements describe how he or his representative characterized his condition then; neither establishes his health today.
Why the Jake Paul fight was postponed
Initial reporting on May 27 said the episode was not expected to affect the July 20, 2024 bout. After a follow-up consultation, promoters announced on May 31 that the fight would be postponed. They said Tyson had been advised to do minimal-to-light training for the next few weeks, then return to full training without limitations. AP reported the postponement and the promoters’ account of the advice.

When the fight took place
Netflix and Most Valuable Promotions announced November 15, 2024, as the replacement date, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The bout went ahead, and Paul won by unanimous decision. Netflix announced the rescheduled event; Netflix reported the result.
