KT Smith announced on January 14, 2025, that she and Luke Scornavacco had decided to separate. They had married in April 2024, so the “nine months” refers to the approximate time between their wedding and her announcement—not the length of a divorce process. Smith said the decision was mutual and that she would keep the reasons private.
What did KT Smith say about the separation?
In an Instagram Story on January 14, Smith wrote, “Luke and I have decided to separate,” according to Yahoo Entertainment’s January 15, 2025 report. The outlet also reproduced Smith’s statement: “We won’t be sharing about it, because there truly isn’t much to share.”
Smith described the decision as mutual, said neither person had done anything wrong, and explained that they needed to do what was best for themselves and Indigo, her son with Morgan Wallen. iHeart’s January 15 coverage also reproduced her statement. These quotes are attributed to an Instagram Story through the outlets’ reporting, not to a direct interview.
How long were Smith and Scornavacco married?
Smith and Scornavacco married in April 2024, five days after getting engaged, according to Us Weekly’s January 15, 2025 report. Smith announced their separation in January 2025. “After nine months” is the approximate interval used in coverage for the period from their wedding to the announcement; it does not establish when any divorce filing occurred.

Why did they separate?
Smith did not give a specific reason. She said the couple would not share details and that neither had done anything wrong. There is no substantiated cause to report beyond her explanation that they needed to do what was best for themselves and Indigo.

Entertainment coverage published October 9, 2025, reported that Scornavacco announced a divorce, as reported by Whiskey Riff. That report is a later development than Smith’s January separation announcement, but it does not by itself establish that a court finalized the divorce.
