Scottish slam metal band Party Cannon announced a Nintendo 64 cartridge edition of its EP Subjected to a Partying, according to a January 23, 2026, report by Futurism. The reported cartridge edition was limited to 100 copies and contains four songs; the full release has eight songs, including live tracks and remixes.
What is on the N64 cartridge?
Futurism reports that the cartridge ROM contains four songs and video from a recent festival appearance, displayed at 320 by 240 pixels. The report does not name the festival or list the songs. The full release is described as an eight-song EP that includes live tracks and remixes.

Can you still buy the cartridge?
Futurism reported that the US inventory sold out in less than a day after the announced run of 100 copies. That describes the initial sale, not current stock: present availability has not been confirmed. The report does not state a price or provide verified purchase details.
Why release music on an N64?
The cartridge is a deliberately unconventional physical format, and its limited storage shaped what Party Cannon put on it. Futurism says N64 Game Paks can hold up to 64 megabytes, while early versions had 12 megabytes; it presents that capacity constraint as the reason the cartridge edition was limited to four songs. Those figures are the report’s technical background, not independently verified Nintendo specifications.

The band framed the choice with a joke about the console’s age. In wording attributed to Party Cannon by Futurism, it announced: “We are going where no slamming death metal band has gone before — Nintendo 64,” then added, “That’s right, it’s time to get N or get out.” The band described the EP as the first release with new vocalist Daryl “The Frogman” Boyce and said it had chosen a console whose lifespan ended in 2001.
Futurism also notes an earlier Party Cannon single released on a Sega Genesis cartridge, though it does not identify the single or give a release date. The band’s website description of the N64 release, as quoted in the report, invites listeners to “Load up your N64 and have an IQ-lowering blast from the past.”

Futurism says listeners need an N64 console and a television with a suitable input. Its report does not specify a connector, adapter, or compatibility details, so buyers should not assume a particular hookup will work without checking their own equipment.
