The headline “Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Show Subtle PDA” could refer to at least three different appearances: a 2020 Los Angeles charity delivery, a 2024 television interview, or the couple’s 2024 visit to Colombia. The closest match to the wording is Entertainment Tonight’s report about the couple holding hands while volunteering for Project Angel Food on April 17, 2020.
The 2020 Los Angeles moment: holding hands while delivering meals
Entertainment Tonight reported that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry delivered meals for Project Angel Food in Los Angeles on Friday, April 17, 2020. The outlet described them in casual clothes and face masks, holding hands as they walked. Its account placed the outing during the COVID-19 pandemic and said the couple had also made deliveries on Easter Sunday and the previous Wednesday. Entertainment Tonight’s April 2020 report
What Project Angel Food does
The organization prepares and delivers meals to people living with critical illnesses. According to ET, Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, told the couple the charity needed volunteers. Richard Ayoub, then identified as the organization’s executive director, said they wanted to do the work quietly: “They wanted to do it quietly and they did.” He also described joining one delivery with them and said they were focused on the client and service. Those comments are Ayoub’s account; a hand-holding gesture or a brief public appearance does not establish private motives.
How to read the pandemic-era figures
ET’s 2020 story reported that 400 new people had signed up to receive meals during the pandemic. It also reported 1,600 meals served per day, with the organization expecting that number to rise to 2,000. These are figures from that 2020 report, not current service levels.

Two other reports describe different PDA moments
The same general headline framing has been used for separate events. Their settings and gestures should not be combined with the 2020 volunteer outing.
| Event | Gesture described | Report and context |
|---|---|---|
| CBS interview, August 2024 | Meghan reached to touch Harry’s leg while discussing her past suicidal ideation; anchor Jane Pauley commented on the gesture. | An InStyle story republished by Yahoo covered the couple’s discussion of The Parents Network, an initiative concerning online bullying. Yahoo’s August 2024 report |
| Colombia visit, August 2024 | The couple held hands while walking in San Basilio de Palenque; the report also described them smiling and laughing during a drum lesson. | Harper’s Bazaar covered the third day of their visit. Colombia’s Vice President Francia Márquez had invited them to tour Colombian cities. Harper’s Bazaar’s August 2024 report |
What the headline establishes—and what it doesn’t
“Subtle PDA” is an editorial description of visible gestures, not evidence of relationship quality or of what either person privately intended. The event can only be identified with confidence when the headline is paired with its date or source: the closest wording match points to the April 2020 Los Angeles charity work, while the CBS interview and Colombia visit were distinct 2024 appearances.
