Meagan Good said a viral excerpt that appeared to show Michael Ealy ignoring Jonathan Majors left out an earlier greeting between the two men. Her explanation addresses the clip’s edit; the available reporting does not independently confirm the full sequence or establish Ealy’s intent.
What the video appeared to show
The interaction took place at the PowerPlayers Mix & Mingle event in the Los Angeles area on July 10, 2024. In the excerpt that circulated online, Ealy greets and hugs Good, his Think Like a Man co-star, then greets rapper D Smoke and D Smoke’s wife while Majors is nearby. Viewers interpreted that sequence as Ealy ignoring Majors. The excerpt alone does not establish that interpretation as fact. Entertainment Weekly via Yahoo and TheGrio reported on the clip and the reaction.

What Meagan Good said was missing
Good responded in a comment on The Shade Room’s post. She said the video had cut out the first part, when Majors and Ealy hugged and spoke positively to each other before Ealy gave her what she described as a “big brother hug.” HOT 97 reproduced her comment, which begins: “So we’re just gonna edit out the first part of the video where Jonathan and Micheal exchange a big hug first and then speak life over each other – ‘before’ he gives me a big brother hug?” The spelling “Micheal” is preserved from that reproduction. HOT 97’s July 12, 2024 report also quotes Good calling the commentary “super unfortunate” and criticizing people for projecting onto a snippet without real context.
What is—and is not—confirmed
Good’s account offers a different context for the excerpt, but the contemporaneous reports do not provide an authenticated, continuous recording that independently confirms the full sequence. Nor do they establish what Ealy intended. The clip prompted speculation; it is not, on its own, proof that he deliberately snubbed Majors. TheGrio’s July 15, 2024 coverage also described the dispute without establishing the men’s intent.
How widely the clip circulated
Entertainment Weekly’s report, syndicated by Yahoo on July 12, 2024, said The Shade Room’s Instagram post had received more than 250,000 likes and that the video on X had more than 15 million views. Those are reported figures from July 2024, not current totals or independently verified platform analytics.
