For more themed food and a toy-focused family promotion, Burger King’s SpongeBob menu is the stronger pick; for a straightforward main-course choice with themed socks, McDonald’s Grinch Meal fits better. That is a judgment about what each US promotion offered—not a taste-test verdict. Both were announced as limited-time campaigns for December 2025, and their releases do not establish whether either is available now.
What came in the US McDonald’s Grinch Meal?
McDonald’s USA announced the Grinch Meal on November 20, 2025, with a planned December 2 launch at participating restaurants nationwide, while supplies lasted. It paired one main choice with seasoned fries, a medium drink, and a pair of Grinch socks.
- Main: a Big Mac or 10-piece Chicken McNuggets.
- Side: fries with Dill Pickle “Grinch Salt.” The release says customers shake the seasoning into the McShaker bag.
- Extra: a pair of Grinch socks.
The US announcement did not state a meal price. McDonald’s USA’s announcement describes the US offer.
What was on Burger King’s SpongeBob menu?
Burger King announced its SpongeBob Movie Menu on December 1, 2025. The promotion centered on four themed items, with a bundle and a separate King Jr. Meal also described in the release.

- Does not stand on its own
- Features detailed embroidery
- SpongeBob’s Krabby Whopper: a quarter-pound 100% beef patty on a yellow square bun, with American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, mayonnaise, and ketchup.
- Mr. Krabs’ Cheesy Bacon Tots.
- Patrick’s Star-berry Shortcake Pie.
- Pirate’s Frozen Pineapple Float.
The Bikini Bottom Bundle put all four limited-time items in a pineapple-shaped box; the release specifies a medium float and an eight-piece order of tots. The King Jr. Meal came in a pineapple-shaped box with one of six announced collectible SpongeBob toys and a limited-edition crown. See Burger King’s announcement for the campaign details.
Which promotion offered more variety?
Burger King offered more distinct named themed foods: a burger, tots, a pie, and a float. Its menu gives someone who wants a full character-themed spread more to choose from, while the bundle packages all four featured items together.

- Made from the highest-quality materials so the fun never ends
- Fun, playful design on a fan-favorite character.
- Based on the original characters and illustrations of Dr. Seuss
- To ensure stability and quality, this plush contains bean pellets suitable for all ages
McDonald’s offered a simpler meal structure, but the main course had two recognizable choices: a Big Mac or a 10-piece McNuggets. Its distinctive twist was the dill-pickle seasoning for the fries, rather than several themed dishes. So the edge depends on what “variety” means to you: more themed items favors Burger King; a choice between burger and nuggets favors McDonald’s.
Which one is the obvious winner?
Our pick for the more elaborate promotion is Burger King’s SpongeBob menu. It has four named themed foods, pineapple-shaped packaging for the bundle, and a toy-and-crown tie-in for the King Jr. Meal. McDonald’s is the better fit if you specifically want a Big Mac or nuggets with pickle-seasoned fries and Grinch socks.

Neither official announcement establishes which food tastes better, and there is no disclosed head-to-head taste test behind this choice. The releases also do not provide comparable US prices, so they cannot show which promotion was the better value.

McDonald’s offered different Grinch meals in other countries, so those details should not be applied to the US version. In the UK, the November 20, 2025 announcement listed a Big Mac, nine-piece McNuggets, or McPlant meal with Grinched McShaker Fries, a drink, and mismatched socks. It listed each option at £9.09, subject to restaurant price variation, and said the festive menu would run for six weeks from November 26, 2025. That UK price is not a US price or a comparison with Burger King. McDonald’s UK’s announcement has the regional details.
In Canada, the December 2, 2025 announcement described a Grinchiest Meal with a choice of six sandwiches, a medium fountain drink, Who-Hash Bites, and mismatched socks, available for a limited time while supplies lasted. It is a separate offer from the US meal. McDonald’s Canada’s announcement describes that version.
