Wayne, was sued in October 2024 by Vanessa LeMaistre, who alleged that he sexually assaulted her in 2016 and that the assault resulted in a pregnancy she later terminated. Wayne denied the allegations. On September 25, 2025, a civil jury returned a verdict for Wayne on every cause of action; the court entered judgment in his favor on October 24, 2025. The verdict was a civil case outcome, not a criminal acquittal.
What did the lawsuit allege?
LeMaistre filed her complaint on October 29, 2024, in Los Angeles County. According to the complaint, she met Wayne in Las Vegas in spring 2016 and believed they had become friends. She alleged that during a visit to a California recording studio in or around September, she consumed alcohol and half a Xanax, lost consciousness, and later awoke elsewhere while Wayne was sexually assaulting her. The complaint said she learned weeks later that she was pregnant and had an abortion in November 2016. These are allegations made by the plaintiff, not findings established by the court. How did Wayne respond?
In October 2024, Wayne’s attorney, Lawrence Hinkle II, denied the claims, calling them “a pure shakedown” and “false accusations,” according to the Associated Press. LeMaistre’s lawyers said they intended to prove her claims in court.
What was the connection to “Rap Saved Me”?
The complaint alleged that LeMaistre interpreted lyrics in “Rap Saved Me,” a 2017 song performed by 21 Savage, Offset and Quavo and produced by Wayne, as referring to the alleged incident. The Washington Post reported that Wayne did not perform the lyrics at issue. The claimed connection was LeMaistre’s allegation and interpretation; it was not independent confirmation of what happened. The Washington Post’s report on the complaint describes that claim.

What was the result of the case?
The case went to a civil jury, which returned a verdict for Wayne on all causes of action on September 25, 2025. The court entered judgment on October 24, 2025, ordering that LeMaistre take nothing by way of her complaint. The judgment on the verdict records the formal disposition. The Los Angeles Times reported the jury’s verdict the following day.
Was this a criminal case?
No. The case described in the court judgment was a civil lawsuit seeking damages. A civil jury verdict for Wayne means the plaintiff did not prevail on the claims in that case; it is not a criminal acquittal. The sources cited here document the civil case and do not establish a criminal proceeding.

What did LeMaistre’s lawyers say after the verdict?
After the verdict, attorney Michael J. Willemin said the plaintiff’s side was disappointed and believed the result would ultimately be overturned on appeal. He also said the legal system was “often stacked against survivors,” as reported by the Los Angeles Times. That was counsel’s stated position; the sources cited here do not establish that an appeal succeeded or that a later appellate decision was issued.
