His rising career strained a long-term relationship
Michael Bublé’s major-label debut arrived in 2003, and he won the Juno Award for Best New Talent in 2004, according to Biography.com. In an interview published by music journalist Nicholas Jennings, Bublé recalled that, as attention around him grew, he became self-important and began neglecting a girlfriend in Vancouver.
“During the last couple of years, things got a little rocky between me and my girlfriend back in Vancouver, who I’ve been with for seven years, because I started to believe that I was Mr. Stud Boy. I was just being a real dink and started to neglect her,” he said in the Jennings interview. The page was published on May 25, 2010, but does not establish exactly when the events he described took place. It also does not name the girlfriend in that passage.
Debbie Timuss and the story behind “Home”
Biography.com identifies Debbie Timuss as Bublé’s long-term love and says he wrote “Home” for her. The song appeared on his 2005 album It’s Time; the site also associates Timuss with the song’s video and backing vocals. Biography.com reports that they split later that year. It mentions infidelity rumors around the breakup, but those rumors do not establish what happened or explain why the relationship ended.

The distinction matters: Bublé’s account of neglecting a seven-year Vancouver girlfriend comes from Jennings, while Biography.com names Timuss in its separate account. The interview passage itself does not identify her, so it cannot independently confirm that every detail Bublé shared referred to Timuss.
Emily Blunt and a painful 2008 breakup
ABC News places Bublé and Emily Blunt’s relationship between 2005 and 2008. In a 2013 Nightline interview, Bublé called their breakup “devastating” and described the emotional impact: “It’s not just about love. It’s not just about heartbreak. It’s about ego. Your ego is destroyed.” He said he experienced anxiety afterward and spoke about reading, talking with his grandfather and going to therapy. Those are his descriptions of his experience, not a clinical diagnosis.

Bublé also pushed back against public attempts to assign blame, saying, “No one will ever know the real story. That’s not their business to know.” The account ABC News published is based on what he chose to share; it does not establish the private cause of the breakup. ABC News’ 2013 report preserves that boundary.
What Bublé later said about his behavior
In remarks to etalk reported by ABC News on March 18, 2015, Bublé reflected more broadly on how he had treated women he dated: “I was a jerk and I was careless and reckless with the hearts of women I was with,” he said. “And I got my karma. I earned it. I got my butt and heart kicked and it hurt me enough that I looked in the mirror and I didn’t want it to happen again.” This is Bublé’s retrospective characterization of his behavior, not a verified account of every relationship or breakup.

ABC News’ report of the 2015 interview connects the admission to Bublé’s reflections on his past. It gives readers his own explanation for the “rocky” framing without turning rumors or private events into settled fact.
