Meghan Markle’s representative denied an allegation that she took a dress from a 2022 Variety photo shoot without permission. The claim, reported by Page Six on November 25, 2025, relied on unnamed sources; another source described the matter as a misunderstanding. The available accounts do not establish who owned the gown or what the shoot agreement permitted.
What the report alleges
Page Six connected a green Galvan Ushuaia gown worn in a Netflix holiday-special promotion with a gown used in a 2022 Variety shoot. The outlet reported that Markle had taken the dress without asking and described it as part of a “royal archive,” citing unnamed sources. Another unnamed source characterized the issue as a misunderstanding. Those accounts are competing claims, not an independently verified finding.
Page Six reported the gown’s value as $1,695, a figure frequently rounded to $1,700 in headlines. That is the reported value in the 2025 coverage, not confirmation of the dress’s current retail price.
What Markle’s representative said
As reported by Us Weekly on November 25, 2025, Markle’s spokesperson rejected the suggestion that items were taken without the stylists’ or their teams’ knowledge and agreement, calling that insinuation “categorically false, but also highly defamatory.” The representative added: “Any items kept were done so in total transparency and in accordance with contractual arrangements.”

This is the spokesperson’s account of how retained items were handled. It does not independently establish the terms of the shoot or resolve the anonymous sources’ claims.
What remains unconfirmed
The reviewed coverage does not include the shoot contract, an on-record account from the stylist or shoot team, or records from the designer establishing ownership of this particular gown. It also does not establish whether the dress was loaned, retained under an agreement, or handled in some other way. The Daily Beast’s November 25 report covers the allegation and denial but likewise does not supply those underlying records.
