Para la ceremonia diurna de investidura de Donald Trump, Melania Trump vistió un traje personalizado de Ralph Lauren Collection. Vogue lo describió como un conjunto de cachemira de doble faz en azul cielo, acompañado por guantes de ante, bolso y zapatos a juego. Vogue describió el conjunto de Ralph Lauren.
La publicación comparó su silueta con la elegancia de Jacqueline Kennedy y la relacionó con la sofisticación de los años sesenta. Esa semejanza es una interpretación editorial: las fuentes disponibles no establecen que Trump o Ralph Lauren presentaran a Kennedy como referencia explícita del diseño.
El vestido de los bailes inaugurales
Para los bailes celebrados esa noche, Trump llevó un vestido diseñado por Hervé Pierre en colaboración con ella. El Museo Nacional de Historia Estadounidense del Smithsonian lo describió como un vestido de crepé de seda color vainilla, con escote descubierto, falda con abertura, volantes desde el escote hasta el bajo y una cinta color claret en la cintura.
