Megan Thee Stallion performed four songs at Kamala Harris’s July 30, 2024, rally in Atlanta, then urged the crowd to support Harris, linking her song “Body” to voting and bodily autonomy. Some conservative voices objected to the performance’s sexualized dancing and explicit lyrics at a political event. Those reactions came from specific critics; they do not establish how conservatives as a whole felt or whether the performance changed votes.

What happened at the Atlanta rally

Harris held the campaign rally at the Georgia State Convocation Center on July 30, 2024. Megan Thee Stallion and Quavo were among the program’s performers. A vice-presidential pool report said the campaign reported more than 10,000 attendees; The Washington Post reported that the campaign announced a crowd count of 10,000 and described the event as its largest rally to that point. These are campaign figures, not an independently audited attendance count. The pool report and The Washington Post’s coverage document the event and reported crowd estimate.

The pool report records Megan taking the stage at 6:41 p.m. and leaving at 6:48 p.m., before Harris spoke. The brief musical appearance was part of the rally program; it was not Harris’s speech.

What songs did Megan Thee Stallion perform?

The pool report lists four songs in the set:

  • “Girls in the Hood”
  • “Mamushi”
  • “Body”
  • “Savage”

iHeart’s July 31, 2024, report also lists those four songs and identifies “Mamushi” as a single from Megan’s album MEGAN. Read iHeart’s set-list report.

What Megan said about Harris and voting

Megan connected “Body” to a message about voting and bodily autonomy. The pool report records her saying: “Now I know my ladies in the crowd love their bodies – and if you want to keep loving your body, you know who to vote for.”

It also records her introducing Harris as “Our future president – let’s get this done Atlanta,” and saying: “We’re about to make history with the first female president. The first black female president. Let’s get this done honey.” These quotations follow the wording recorded by the pool report.

Why specific conservative voices criticized the performance

Contemporaneous criticism focused on the performance’s sexualized dancing and explicit lyrics, and on whether that style belonged at a political rally. Rolling Stone Canada quoted CatholicVote, a conservative nonprofit, calling Megan “talentless” and objecting to her twerking and gyrating. In the full statement quoted by the outlet, CatholicVote also criticized the explicitness of the song and characterized Megan’s appearance as advocacy for abortion. That is CatholicVote’s framing, not a neutral description of the performance or a statement by Megan in the recorded remarks. Rolling Stone Canada’s report documents the reaction.

Donald Trump also criticized the rally as a “concert” and claimed people began leaving shortly into Harris’s speech, according to the same report. The cited coverage does not independently verify those departures. It also does not establish how widespread the objections were among conservatives, so the criticism should be attributed to the named voices rather than generalized to an entire political group.

What the event does—and does not—show

The available accounts establish the sequence, set list, recorded remarks, and examples of criticism. They do not provide independent polling, a measured change in voter support, or evidence that the performance affected the election. The crowd estimate, meanwhile, was attributed to the campaign rather than independently counted.
