Amazon’s cast and characters guide identifies the six principal performers below. Its career notes are selective: where the guide does not name earlier work, that means the credit is not stated there, not that the performer has no other credits.

The same guide once listed I Know What You Did Last Summer as an upcoming Lola Tung project. That was a time-bound note in the guide, not a current project update, so it should not be read as a present-tense account of her work.
What is the series about, and how does it adapt Jenny Han’s books?
Amazon describes the series as based on Jenny Han’s book trilogy. The story follows Belly, brothers Conrad and Jeremiah, their teenage friendships and the enduring friendship between their mothers, with a Massachusetts beach house as its central setting. In the Prime Video season-three synopsis, Belly is at the end of her junior year of college and expects another summer at Cousins Beach with Jeremiah—until Conrad returns.

Han is the trilogy’s author as well as the television adaptation’s creator, co-showrunner and executive producer, according to TIME’s 2022 interview. She described adding a debutante ball as a visual way to express coming of age, drawing on diverse cultural ceremonies as reference points. That is one example of adaptation as an intentional creative choice rather than a scene-for-scene transfer from page to screen.
Han also said of casting Belly: “I was looking for somebody who genuinely felt like a teenage girl going through this sort of awakening.” The comment is a first-person account of the creative aim, not a claim about Tung’s life outside the role.

What have cast members said about representation and the story?
In an Amazon Ads interview published July 16, 2025, cast and creator comments connect the series to representation and emotionally recognizable themes. The statements are their perspectives, not audience-wide findings.
- Han said: “To me, the value is hopefully people looking and seeing themselves and seeing what could be possible.”
- Tung said: “It’s always important for people to see that whatever they want to do is possible.”
- Kaufman reflected: “I think my whole life, I have been searching for Asian faces in media subconsciously,” speaking about the significance of seeing Asian actors in leading roles.
- Casalegno described the show’s themes this way: “I feel like there’s a lot of really deep, relatable themes like grief and love and heartbreak,”
Amazon Ads’ article also reports its own research figures: 7 in 10 consumers want genuine stories in media that reflect different cultures, citing its 2025 From Ads to Zeitgeist report; it cites a 2024 study for the finding that 62% of consumers are looking for more original content. Those are Amazon Ads research claims, not measurements of this show’s viewers or cast-specific audience data.

Is The Summer I Turned Pretty still releasing episodes?
No. Amazon’s season-three announcement calls it the third and final season and said the finale was scheduled for September 17, 2025. That date has passed; the series is not currently in a weekly rollout. For the current catalog and availability, check the Prime Video program page, since streaming access can vary by region.
