Over Memorial Day weekend in 2025, Prince Harry was reported to be in Shanghai for a business conference while Meghan Markle stayed in California. The reports describe separate schedules, not the couple’s reasons for them or evidence of a relationship problem.
Where Harry and Meghan were reported to be
A GB News report published May 27, 2025, said Harry appeared at the Envision 2025 Global Partner Conference in Shanghai while Meghan remained in California. The account describes her as not joining him at the event. GB News’ report is the available source for those locations.
This was a report about the 2025 Memorial Day weekend, not a current itinerary. The headline word “unexpected” is framing; the available reporting does not establish that either person was surprised by the plans.
What was reported about Harry’s conference appearance
The GB News account linked Harry’s appearance to his work with Travalyst, the travel initiative he founded. A May 26, 2025 Reddit post reproducing attributed People coverage says he delivered a keynote at the conference. That post is secondary reporting, not confirmation from the event or Travalyst. The reproduced account gives May 26 as the date of his appearance.

What the reports do not establish
The accounts do not explain why Meghan stayed in California, whether the schedules were coordinated, or what either person thought about spending the weekend in different places. No primary-source statement from Harry or Meghan about these plans, or verified event-transcript quotation, is established in the available coverage.
Separate travel plans alone do not demonstrate marital trouble or prove a broader professional split. The reported Shanghai appearance and California stay should be understood as the schedules described in those accounts, rather than evidence about the couple’s private relationship.
