The company has not publicly specified what those findings were. A separate allegation DeMayo made months later—that Marvel removed his season-two credits over a Pride-related fan-art post—concerns a later credit decision, not Marvel’s stated reason for ending his employment.
What Marvel has said about the firing
Marvel’s public explanation is brief. A spokesperson told the Los Angeles Times that DeMayo was terminated in March 2024 following an internal investigation. The spokesperson said: “Given the egregious nature of the findings, we severed ties with him immediately and he has no further affiliation with Marvel.”

That statement confirms Marvel’s position and its characterization of the findings, but it does not identify the conduct, evidence, or investigation conclusions. The full investigation report and its underlying evidence have not been disclosed in the cited coverage.
What reporting says about the investigation
The Los Angeles Times reported that an unnamed source familiar with the termination said the investigation involved alleged sexual misconduct. That account is attributed to an unidentified source; Marvel’s on-record statement did not publicly name sexual misconduct or describe its findings.

How DeMayo’s season-two credit allegation differs
In August 2024, DeMayo said Marvel had told him in June that it would remove his season-two writer credits because of a Pride-related fan-art post. In a post quoted by TheWrap, he wrote: “On June 13, #Marvel sent me a letter notifying me that they’d stripped my Season 2 credits due to the post.”

This is DeMayo’s account of a credit decision he says came after his March termination. It does not establish Marvel’s reason for the earlier firing, and the public statement about the firing did not connect the investigation to the Pride post.
DeMayo had completed work on both seasons before he was fired, according to the Los Angeles Times. Vanity Fair reported that he had finished writing season two and that his termination came 16 days before the first-season premiere.

DeMayo’s denial and counter-allegations
In a September 2024 video, DeMayo denied allegations of egregious misconduct, saying, “These allegations of egregious misconduct are false,” as quoted by Vanity Fair. He also accused Marvel of a smear campaign and described a toxic work environment. Those are DeMayo’s denial and counter-allegations; the cited reporting does not independently establish them.
What the later lawsuit update establishes
In a July 1, 2026 report, TheWrap said DeMayo’s lawsuit seeking relief from a non-disparagement clause was scheduled for trial in July 2027. The report also said he retained season-two creator, executive-producer, and writer credits. A reported trial schedule is not a court finding on the firing, the investigation, or either side’s allegations, and the date may change.

What remains publicly unresolved
Marvel has said it fired DeMayo after an internal investigation and described the findings as egregious, without publicly specifying them. An unnamed source’s account of alleged sexual misconduct was reported separately. DeMayo has denied egregious misconduct allegations, made counter-allegations against Marvel, and described a later dispute over his season-two credits. The cited coverage does not provide the investigation report, establish the underlying facts, or resolve the parties’ competing claims.
