What was reported about his death?
The New Zealand Herald reported that Jury died on 27 June 2024 while in custody at Mt Eden Corrections Facility in Auckland. His father, Roy Jury, confirmed the circumstances to the Herald.
What did police say, and is the cause of death known?
A police spokesperson told the Herald that the death was not being treated as suspicious and had been referred to the coroner. That was an initial police characterization, not a final coroner finding. The coverage reviewed here does not state a cause of death or report a subsequent finding, so a cause should not be inferred.
