The February 2026 reports on his remarks do not establish that he was fired; they also do not amount to an official Disney denial.
What Mark Ruffalo said about being fired
While promoting Crime 101 in a February 2026 interview with The News Movement, Ruffalo was asked whether he had been fired. ComicBook.com reproduced his answer: “Not that I know of. People keep going, ‘Did you get fired?’ I’m like, ‘Not that I know of,’” ComicBook.com
He added: “Yeah, I’ll be there as long as they have me. I have a good relationship with them. You know, who knows, there might be things I’m already doing that are … I’m around. Let me just say that.” The comments convey his understanding of his standing with Marvel, but the vague reference to “things” does not identify a project or confirm a casting.
Chris Hemsworth called the firing claim “nonsense,” and Halle Berry said, “We would protest,” according to the same coverage. The original News Movement Instagram interview was linked in reporting, but the quotations here are attributed to Ruffalo as reproduced by the outlets, rather than independently verified against a playable original video.

What the reports establish—and what they do not
Parade reported on January 27, 2026, that online firing claims followed Ruffalo’s political remarks, including comments at the Golden Globes. The outlet said Disney had made no official statement and that no concrete evidence showed Ruffalo had been let go at the time it published its report. That is a dated description of the public record, not a formal Disney confirmation that he had not been fired or that his future could not change. Parade
The February interview coverage gives Ruffalo’s own response, but it does not independently document his employment status. Taken together, the available reporting does not substantiate the rumor that he was fired.

Is Mark Ruffalo still playing Hulk?
SuperHeroHype reported on February 3, 2026, that Ruffalo would reprise Bruce Banner/Hulk in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. That report anticipated his return in that film but described later appearances as uncertain. SuperHeroHype
Ruffalo’s remark that he might already be doing something is not confirmation of an additional Marvel project. It does not establish that he will appear in Avengers: Doomsday, Secret Wars, or any other title beyond the casting reported for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

The 2026 rumor is separate from an earlier running joke. Ruffalo’s history of revealing spoilers led the Russo brothers to joke that he had been fired; ComicBook.com described that exchange as humorous in March 2019. That promotional gag is not evidence of an actual firing, and it should not be confused with the later online claim. ComicBook.com
