Mark Zuckerberg gave Priscilla Chan a large statue depicting her. According to a report by Futurism, the seven-foot artwork, made of turquoise and silver, was sculpted by Daniel Arsham and unveiled by Zuckerberg on Instagram in August 2024. Zuckerberg later said on Theo Von’s podcast that Chan did not seem happy with it—but that is his account, not a direct statement from Chan.
What did Mark Zuckerberg give Priscilla Chan?
Futurism reported that the gift was a seven-foot statue of Chan, made of turquoise and silver by artist Daniel Arsham. Zuckerberg unveiled it publicly in August 2024, according to the outlet’s account of his Instagram post.
In that post, Zuckerberg described the gesture as “Bringing back the Roman tradition of making sculptures of your wife.” The phrase was his framing of the gift; the available account does not establish that the statue was part of a specific historical tradition.
Why did Zuckerberg say he gave her a statue?
His Instagram caption presented the statue as an affectionate nod to the Roman practice he invoked. The report does not provide a separate explanation from Zuckerberg about why he commissioned this particular work, nor does it establish the artwork’s price.

Was Priscilla Chan happy with the statue?
Futurism reported that Zuckerberg later discussed the gift on Theo Von’s podcast This Past Weekend. He said, “I don’t think she was that happy with it,” and added that “She doesn’t want a sculpture of her in the front lawn.” He also characterized the reaction as “That’s weird.”
Those remarks are Zuckerberg’s recollection of Chan’s response. The report does not include a direct interview or statement from Chan, so her own account of how she felt is not established here.
