When did Barbie Project Friendship come out?
Barbie Project Friendship launched on October 25, 2024. Outright Games announced the planned release date on July 17, 2024, then confirmed the game was available on launch day in its October 25 launch notice. The game was among the first three titles named after Mattel and Outright Games announced a multi-year partnership on May 22, 2024.
That partnership announcement also reported that Mattel Digital Games had 48 million monthly active players in 2023. That figure refers to Mattel’s digital games overall, not to players of Barbie Project Friendship.
What is Barbie Project Friendship about?
Barbie “Malibu” Roberts and Barbie “Brooklyn” Roberts team up with friends and family to save the Malibu Waves Community Center. The adventure involves renovating and transforming spaces, discovering areas, completing quests and activities, and unlocking outfits.

Activities include making ice cream with Ken, renovating the arcade with Teresa and customizing scooters with Nikki. The game is set in the world of Barbie Dreamhouse Adventures and Barbie A Touch of Magic. Outright Games’ announcement says television-series head writer Ann Austen supported development; the launch notice says the original English voice cast returns.

The official material does not compare performance, resolution, loading times, controls or edition differences across platforms. Can you play Barbie Project Friendship with a friend?
Yes. The game supports single-player play and two-player local co-op, so two people can play together locally. The launch notice describes co-op as a way to tackle minigames together; it does not establish online multiplayer support.

What accessibility options does it have?
The launch notice says minigames offer different difficulty levels and an auto-win option. Those features may help younger players or people who prefer to bypass a challenging minigame. They are specific options described by the publisher, not evidence of a formal accessibility certification or a full set of accessibility settings.

Mattel and Outright Games framed the game around friendship, creativity and playing together. In the July 17, 2024 announcement, Mattel Senior Director of Business Development & Licensing – Gaming and Apps Erika Winterholler said players could create memories with friends. In the October 25 launch notice, Mattel Head of Business Development, Digital Gaming Erika Winterholler highlighted local multiplayer for friends and family.
