In January 2026, Lachie confirmed the separation and stepped down as Brisbane Lions co-captain, according to Nine’s report. He apologized for his actions, saying: “While I won’t go into specifics I can say that I have let my family down, and I apologise for my actions which have hurt those closest to me.”
Nine reported that Lachie did not go into specifics and did not explicitly confirm the affair rumors. His confirmation of the separation and his apology should therefore be distinguished from Jules’s later, more detailed account.

In an interview on the Pretty Sure podcast, Jules described what she said was “an ongoing, four-month affair with my best friend, behind my back.” The Nightly reported the interview on 26 August 2026.
