Lady Gaga performed “Hold My Hand” in a prerecorded segment filmed on Bourbon Street and broadcast before Super Bowl LIX kicked off on February 9, 2025. The pregame performance was presented as a tribute to people affected by recent tragedies; it was not a live halftime show.
What did Lady Gaga perform before Super Bowl LIX?
Gaga sang “Hold My Hand,” her song associated with Top Gun: Maverick. FOX Sports’ NFL-on-FOX video listing identifies the song and describes the segment as taking place ahead of Super Bowl LIX, the February 9, 2025 matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. FOX Sports’ listing was published the following day, February 10.
Was the performance live?
No. The Associated Press reported that the Bourbon Street performance was prerecorded and aired in the run-up to kickoff. It was a pregame broadcast segment, not a performance during the game or at halftime. The AP’s Super Bowl LIX live report covered the February 9 broadcast.
Why was “Hold My Hand” performed?
The segment was framed as a tribute for people affected by recent tragedies. Universal Music Japan described Gaga’s piano performance in those terms, and the AP also placed it within a pregame tribute segment. The reporting supports that broader framing, rather than a claim that the performance was dedicated to only one event. Universal Music Japan’s February 10, 2025 item also identifies “Hold My Hand” as the end-credits song for Top Gun: Maverick.

How the song connects to Top Gun: Maverick
“Hold My Hand” is the end-credits song for the 2022 film Top Gun: Maverick. That soundtrack connection is separate from Gaga’s Super Bowl appearance: the pregame segment was a broadcast performance, and the cited material does not establish that it was released as part of a soundtrack edition.
