LL Cool J described the “Murdergram Deux” video as an homage to hip-hop history, built from visual Easter eggs and a new interpretation of the culture’s past. He has explained one of them directly: the floating spaghetti and meatballs recall a remark from 2017 that was later mocked on Twitter. The video’s other images should not be treated as a confirmed visual key; no source cited here identifies every reference.
What the video is meant to evoke
In an October 11, 2024 interview with ABC News, LL Cool J described the video’s approach this way: “It became like this homage to all of this hip hop history, and like a new interpretation of that.” He also characterized its visual references as Easter eggs.
That description offers a frame for watching the video, not a shot-by-shot explanation. It points to a conversation with hip-hop’s accumulated imagery and history while leaving viewers room to interpret details. Unless LL or another reliable source has identified a particular image, its meaning should remain open rather than being presented as fact.
The spaghetti-and-meatballs Easter egg
LL did explain the plate floating in the video’s black void. In the ABC News interview, he said, “in the video, in the black void, I got a plate of spaghetti and meatballs floating in the video.” He connected it to a 2017 remark: he had said he would do it “to these meatballs” if he heard one more terrible rap record, and said Twitter later trolled him over the line. The image turns that old, much-mocked remark into a callback within the video.

Why Eminem is on “Murdergram Deux”
The title and sequel idea have their own context. Asked by Music Week whether “Murdergram Deux” followed a classic from Momma Said Knock You Out and who wanted a follow-up, LL answered: “That was me, but we were in Dr Dre’s studio together.” He said he chose Eminem for this track because the pairing sounded right sonically: “I didn’t call Eminem to do Proclivities, I called him for Murdergram because, sonically, it sounded right.”
