In a 2022 GamesBeat interview, she also explained how theater training and feline movement informed her performance, and how the role brought an unexpected public platform.
How theater training shaped her performance
In Dean Takahashi’s edited GamesBeat interview, Robertson describes performance capture as storytelling through the body. Without conventional sets, costumes, or makeup to communicate a character, she says, a performer’s physical choices carry particular weight. Her theater experience helped her approach that challenge.
Robertson studied animal movement and used feline behavior as a starting point for Lady Dimitrescu. She saw the character as “kind of cat-like”: sensual and curvy, but unhurried. The slow, deliberate physicality was Robertson’s interpretation of the role, rather than a stated production formula.
“I think a theater background is so important, especially in this kind of performance capture work, because it’s about the storytelling of your body.”

What stood out about Lady Dimitrescu
Asked whether she expected the character to stand out in Resident Evil, Robertson pointed to the visual design. She said it communicated a lot before Lady Dimitrescu spoke and gave her immediate ideas about who the character was. Her answer reflects what the design suggested to her; the interview does not provide a full account of Capcom’s design process.
Why the reveal felt surreal
When Lady Dimitrescu was revealed, Robertson was still under NDA and could not share the news, even with people close to her. She recalls experiencing the reaction alone and finding it far beyond anything she could have imagined.

The role also gave her a platform she had not expected. Robertson said she was grateful for the chance to create a safe space for different communities, including LGBT+ people. That is her account of what the opportunity meant to her, not a measured claim about the role’s effects.
“I’m incredibly grateful for it. It’s given me a platform to create a safe space for lots of different communities, like the LGBT+ community.”

Her account of the fan response
Before the game came out, Robertson worried that attention to the character might become fetishizing or bring harassment. She acknowledges that harassment exists, while describing the community’s overall response as overwhelmingly positive. The interview does not quantify either reaction.
Watching the game as a fan
Robertson says it is liberating that she can watch the finished game as an audience member: Lady Dimitrescu’s face model is someone else, so she is less inclined to scrutinize her own appearance while watching. She wonders how Helena Mankowska, the face model, feels about the attention, but does not claim to know.

What the role meant for her career
Resident Evil Village was Robertson’s first video game. Asked whether the role opened career doors, she was careful not to assign a cause: she had signed with an agent a week before the game came out and could not tell whether subsequent auditions and bookings reflected the new agent, her award, or both. She had won the D.I.C.E. Award for Outstanding Achievement in Character.
About the game
Resident Evil Village is a first-person survival-horror game. A 2021 GamesBeat review lists PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions. Lady Dimitrescu and her castle are a prominent early section, but the castle is only one part of the full game. See GamesBeat’s review of Resident Evil Village for that contemporary account; it does not establish current prices, stock, or edition contents.
