The draw, according to children and an event organiser quoted by PerthNow on 24 August 2025, was the chance to enjoy its songs, characters and dance together in a cinema. Those are local impressions, not a measured explanation of why audiences bought tickets.
What sold out in Perth—and when?
PerthNow reported on 24 August 2025 that the film’s sing-along screenings had drawn sell-out crowds in Perth cinemas over the weekend. The report does not provide session-by-session attendance figures, so it does not establish how many HOYTS sessions sold out or how many people attended locally.
The weekend was part of an international sing-along event. Netflix Tudum reported more than 1,000 sold-out screenings across the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom on 23–24 August 2025. That is a combined total across five countries, not a count for Perth or HOYTS.
Why did children go to the cinema if the film was on Netflix?
Some children were already familiar with the film from home. PerthNow wrote that Alexandra, Olivia and Chloe were going to a Saturday screening despite having watched it multiple times on Netflix. Their outing points to a different kind of appeal: a sing-along in a cinema makes the songs a shared event rather than a solo or household viewing experience.

The children spoke about favourite characters and music. Olivia told PerthNow: “My favourite character is Zoey, and I like her fierce, sharp dance moves.” The report also said the girls liked the songs but had not been K-pop fans before seeing the film. These comments describe the children interviewed; they are not a survey of Perth audiences.
What local fans and organisers said about the film
PerthNow highlighted the catchy songs, song-and-dance action and vivid computer-generated animation incorporating anime elements as features that may help explain its appeal to children. The comments in the story centre on music, characters and movement, but they do not prove that any one feature caused the sell-outs.

The report also described a themed event at Rollerrama in Kalamunda. Owner Sarah Andross said children had started requesting the songs about six weeks earlier. She capped the event at 100 tickets, which sold out. “I put the event up and boom, boom, boom, the tickets kept selling, I put 100 max and they sold out,” she said. This is one local organiser’s account, not a representative measure of demand.
What families were reported to spend
PerthNow reported in August 2025 that parents were paying more than A$50 to take children to the movies. That figure belongs to the article’s account of spending at the time; it is not a current ticket price or a quote for a particular Perth cinema, session or family size.

Film details and later HOYTS listing
Netflix Australia describes the story as following Rumi, Mira and Zoey, K-pop superstars who use secret powers to protect their fans from supernatural threats. Its Australian title page labels the film a 2025 PG kids title.
HOYTS has a separate listing for KPop Demon Hunters Sing-Along Anniversary Release, dated 10 June 2026. The listing gives a running time of 95 minutes, a PG rating, and content guidance of “Mild animated violence, themes, injury detail, fantasy themes, and scary scenes.” It is a later anniversary release listing, not evidence that Perth sessions are currently available.

Are there KPop Demon Hunters sing-along sessions in Perth now?
The August 2025 sell-outs establish what happened during that particular weekend, not what is playing in Perth now. HOYTS’s anniversary-release listing does not establish current Perth showtimes, seat availability or ticket prices. Check the cinema’s current listings for any dates and sessions before making plans.

For families looking for a related gift rather than a cinema ticket, Netflix announced on 21 October 2025 that Hasbro and Mattel would be global co-master toy licensees for the property. The announcement named MONOPOLY Deal: KPop Demon Hunters as Hasbro’s first product introduction, with preorder planned through Amazon, Target and Walmart from that date and orders due to ship on 1 January 2026. It also said Mattel and Hasbro products would reach retail beginning in spring 2026. These dates confirm the announced product plans, not current stock or availability from any retailer.
