Kali Uchis and Don Toliver announced they were expecting their first child on January 11, 2024, sharing the news in a joint social post and a two-part music video. The announcement arrived one day before Uchis released her album Orquídeas. Their son was born in March 2024, so the pregnancy announcement is a past event.
How Kali Uchis and Don Toliver announced the pregnancy
The couple shared the news through the video pairing Uchis’s songs “Tu Corazón Es Mío” and “Diosa.” The first part showed the couple together and included pregnancy imagery; the second featured “Diosa.” The FADER credited the two-part visual to director child and reported that it accompanied the couple’s joint Instagram post. Read The FADER’s report.
The couple’s caption, as reported by The FADER, read: “Starting our family❤️🩹 don’t take too long to get here little pooks, mom & dad can’t wait to share our life with you.”
Why the announcement was tied to Orquídeas
The video and pregnancy announcement appeared on January 11, 2024, the day before Orquídeas was released. In its January 12 album-day announcement, Universal Music Canada said Uchis had revealed her pregnancy “yesterday” through the child-directed video for “Tu Corazón es Mío.” That label statement confirms the timing and the video connection; it is not a direct quotation from Uchis. The later birth announcement
On March 14, 2024, ABC News reported that Uchis and Toliver had announced the birth of their son. Their joint post, quoted by ABC News, said, “you are everything we could have hoped for & more,” and expressed thanks for their healthy baby boy and wishes for peace, happiness, and health. Read ABC News’s report.
The announcement video is therefore a record of the couple sharing their pregnancy news before Orquídeas arrived—not an indication that Uchis is currently pregnant.
