Kathie Lee Gifford confirmed in April 2024 that a relationship of several years had recently ended. She later said she and her former partner remained friends, and in June 2026 said she was not dating and did not want to date at that time. Those comments describe her position when she made them, not a guarantee of her current relationship status.
What Gifford said about the breakup in April 2024
At QVC’s Age of Possibility summit in Las Vegas on April 24, 2024, Gifford told PEOPLE that her relationship with a man had recently ended. PEOPLE’s report, published the next day, described the relationship as lasting several years. Gifford called him a “very special” man and reflected, “You aren’t supposed to marry everyone you fall in love with.” Read the April 25, 2024 report.
She also described a focus on personal happiness, saying, “My new mantra was going to be my joy is non-negotiable.” These were Gifford’s reflections in that interview, not a statement that every relationship should end in the same way.
Who was Kathie Lee Gifford dating?
Gifford did not identify the man in the 2024 interview. A June 2026 Us Weekly report later identified him as Richard Spitz and said they dated from late 2021 until early 2024. How long were they together?
The 2024 report described the relationship as lasting several years. In a later PEOPLE interview reported by TV Insider in May 2025, Gifford said they had been together “almost three years.” She added: “We were together almost three years, and it just wasn’t meant to be forever. But we love each other, so you just take a day at a time.” Read the May 16, 2025 report.

Her comments provide a dated account rather than a permanent status. In May 2025, Gifford said she and her former partner remained friends and that she was not interested in dating at that time. In the June 2026 report, she said, “I am not dating anybody right now, and I don’t want to date.” That is her stated position as reported on June 30, 2026; it does not establish what may change afterward.
