Khwaabon Ka Jhamela has a smart rom-com hook: a man whose romantic insecurity derails his engagement meets an intimacy coordinator who could help him face it. But the film’s execution is where opinions diverge. Nandini Ramnath’s Scroll.in review calls it “limp and unmemorable,” while The Times of India gives it 3/5 and finds an engaging, feel-good film with appealing performances and visuals.
What is Khwaabon Ka Jhamela about?
Directed by Danish Aslam, this 2024 Hindi romantic comedy stars Prateik Babbar as Zubin, whose romantic and sexual awkwardness helps derail his engagement to Shehnaaz. In London, he meets Ruby, played by Sayani Gupta, an intimacy coordinator. The setup gives the film a route into romantic-comedy territory: Zubin’s confidence problem is not just a hurdle to romance, but the engine of the story.
Scroll.in’s Nandini Ramnath identifies the film as an adaptation of the 2012 Canadian comedy My Awkward Sexual Adventure. The Indian version replaces the original’s exotic dancer, who coaches an accountant, with an intimacy coordinator. That change is the adaptation’s most promising idea: it brings a profession associated with communication and boundaries into a story about intimacy and self-consciousness.
Does the premise make an effective romantic comedy?
For Ramnath, the revised premise is more compelling than the film built around it. She describes the adaptation as sanitized and unexplicit, and argues that the older-fashioned anxiety and London setting weaken its local specificity and contemporary feel. The result, in her judgment, is a film that does not make enough of its central idea.

There are bright spots. Ramnath praises Gupta’s lively performance as Ruby and points to patches of well-aimed humor. Kubbra Sait and Danish Husain also contribute in supporting roles. But those moments do not, in her reading, give the film enough momentum to overcome its underdeveloped premise.
Why do critics disagree about the film?
The contrast between the two published reviews is less about whether the cast has appeal than about whether the overall execution sustains the film. Ramnath sees promising material that remains limp; The Times of India is warmer, calling it an engaging, feel-good rom-com and praising its performances and visual appeal.

These are two critics’ distinct judgments, not an audience poll or an aggregate score. If the central idea sounds more appealing to you than the execution concerns, the Times of India review offers a reason to give it a try; if you want a rom-com whose premise feels fully developed and sharply rooted in its setting, Ramnath’s reservations may matter more.
Is Khwaabon Ka Jhamela worth watching?
It is most likely to suit viewers drawn to an awkward-romance setup, Gupta’s performance, and a light, visually appealing tone. Its intimacy-coordinator angle has a freshness that the film does not fully capitalize on, according to Ramnath, while The Times of India finds enough charm in the performances and presentation to recommend it more warmly. Expect a divided critical response rather than a consensus verdict.

The film premiered on JioCinema on 8 November 2024, following promotion by Jio Studios and a release announcement from Baweja Studios. The current India listing on JustWatch, checked on 27 September 2026, reports it as available to stream on JioHotstar.
