In September 2023, Venice boat operator Venezia Turismo Motoscafi said Kanye West and Bianca Censori would no longer be welcome on its boats after photos from a water-taxi ride circulated. This was a reported decision by a private company—not a ban from Venice or a confirmed legal penalty.
Who imposed the reported ban?
Venezia Turismo Motoscafi, the private operator of the water taxi involved, announced that West and Censori would not be welcome on its boats in future, according to contemporaneous reports by El País, Rai News and Corriere della Sera.
The distinction matters: the reports describe a refusal of service by one boat company. They do not establish that Venice or Italian authorities barred the couple from the city, from boats generally, or from entering Italy.
What reportedly happened on the water taxi?
El País dates the ride to August 28, 2023. The company’s announcement followed the circulation of photos from the ride, which prompted reports of alleged indecent exposure aboard the boat.

In a statement relayed by a spokesperson, the company said the driver had been watching traffic and had not seen the alleged conduct. Euronews quoted the statement as saying: “The driver had to keep a lookout for traffic and did not see these obscenities.” The company also said a third passenger obstructed the captain’s view toward the rear of the boat. That is the operator’s explanation; the reports do not independently establish what the driver could see.
What did the company say about future service?
Euronews reported the company’s statement that “Mr. West and his wife will certainly no longer be welcome on board our company’s boats.” The statement was attributed to the company through a spokesperson; the available reports do not identify a named individual speaker.
