When and where did she sing?
The moment took place during NS-31, Blue Origin’s New Shepard flight on April 14, 2025. According to AP, Perry began singing as the crew returned to their seats for the trip back, after the period of weightlessness. CBS News describes the flight as an approximately 11-minute journey; that is the reported duration for the trip, not the time Perry spent singing.
What kind of spaceflight was NS-31?
NS-31 was a brief suborbital flight launched from Blue Origin’s West Texas site, not an orbital mission. AP reported that the capsule reached 66 miles (107 kilometers) and that the crew experienced a few minutes of weightlessness. Those figures describe the flight as AP reported it; the journey’s total duration and its weightlessness period are distinct.

Who flew with Perry?
Blue Origin lists six crew members for NS-31:

- Gayle King
- Katy Perry
- Kerianne Flynn
- Lauren Sánchez
Blue Origin identifies NS-31 as the 11th human flight of its New Shepard program. The company’s mission record names the crew and records the flight.

Perry framed the choice as a shared moment rather than a solo performance of her own music. After the flight, she told AP: “It’s not about me. It’s not about singing my songs. It’s about a collective energy in there. It’s about us.” In a later news conference, she said: “We weren’t just taking up space. We were making space for the future.” These are statements attributed to Perry by AP, not lines from an official mission transcript.
