Kato Kaelin said he did not expect O.J. Simpson to admit guilt—not even on his deathbed. Simpson died on April 10, 2024, at age 76, without a public confession. Kaelin’s prediction was his personal view about what Simpson might say; it does not establish what happened in 1994.
What Kato Kaelin said about a possible confession
In an interview reported as part of the February 14, 2024 episode of David Yontef’s podcast Behind the Velvet Rope, Kaelin said of Simpson: “He never will come out and say anything.” Asked whether Simpson might confess on his deathbed, Kaelin replied: “No, never. It will never happen.” Entertainment Weekly’s Christian Holub, in a report syndicated by Yahoo Entertainment on April 11, 2024, reproduced those remarks.
RadarOnline also reported the central prediction and attributed it to the February 14 episode. The reports agree on the episode date and the substance of Kaelin’s view, though they include different excerpts. The original podcast recording was not independently accessed for this account, so the quoted wording is attributed to the published report.
What happened after the interview
Simpson died on April 10, 2024, at age 76. The reports say he died without publicly confessing to the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. That answers whether a public deathbed admission followed Kaelin’s prediction: none was reported before Simpson’s death.

The absence of a public confession is not itself evidence for or against guilt. Kaelin was predicting whether Simpson would speak, not offering proof about the killings.
Why Kaelin’s perspective drew attention
Kaelin was a witness at Simpson’s criminal trial and was staying in Simpson’s guest house at the time of the June 1994 killings, according to Entertainment Weekly’s report. An independently hosted archive provides a transcript of Kaelin’s March 28, 1995 testimony. That transcript supplies context for his role as a witness; it does not verify what he said on the 2024 podcast.

How the book If I Did It fits the story
Simpson collaborated on the 2006 book If I Did It. The Goldman family later received the publication rights and released the book with the subtitle Confessions of the Killer, as described in Entertainment Weekly’s coverage. That is relevant publication history, but the subtitle and the book’s framing should not be treated as a verified confession or as proof of guilt.
