No. Kathryn Newton has said she is “really, really, really, really hopeful” about Big Little Lies season 3, but that is not confirmation she will return. The report quoting her, updated August 3, 2026, said HBO had not officially announced a third season. The time jump discussed in the same report is for Liane Moriarty’s forthcoming novel sequel—not a confirmed plot detail for the show.
What Kathryn Newton has said about returning
Newton played Abigail Carlson, Madeline Mackenzie’s daughter. In a February 2024 interview, she said she would go back to the series and was waiting for the call. She also described the show as an especially meaningful project. Those comments expressed enthusiasm and willingness; they did not establish that she had been cast for a third season. The Hollywood Reporter interview republished by Yahoo Entertainment provides that earlier context.

In the later comments reported in August 2026, Newton said she was “really, really, really, really hopeful” about season 3 and would love that outcome for the cast. Hope is not a casting announcement. The AOL report, updated August 3, 2026, says HBO had not made an official announcement as of that update.
Is Big Little Lies season 3 confirmed?
The available status in that August 3, 2026 report does not establish an official season-three announcement. Talk about development, writing, or cast and creator interest should not be treated as a formal renewal, production start, or confirmed cast list. Newton’s return remains unconfirmed in the cited reporting.

Does season 3 have a major time jump?
The time jump described in the report belongs to Moriarty’s forthcoming sequel novel. Moriarty said she was writing a sequel in which the women are parents of teenagers, and confirmed a time jump when asked directly. The report said the book’s publication date was unknown.
That premise should not be attributed to the television series without a separate announcement from HBO or the show’s producers. The cited reporting establishes what Moriarty said about her book, not that season 3 will adapt that premise.

Where to watch Big Little Lies
HBO lists Big Little Lies in its series catalog, and Warner Bros. Discovery included it among boxset titles in its March 2026 UK and Ireland launch announcement. Streaming access depends on territory and can change, so check the current local catalog before subscribing or planning a rewatch. HBO’s series page and Warner Bros. Discovery’s UK and Ireland launch announcement provide official viewing context.
