The same report attributed another message to Emhoff: “There’s nothing wrong with showing emotion and crying.” She also reportedly said she had struggled with her mental health throughout her life and was not ashamed. Those remarks are her reported personal statements, not a diagnosis or independent assessment of her health.
How the rumor was connected to the election

People.com’s report also said Emhoff’s mother, Kerstin, defended her on X. Kerstin reportedly called the rumor “MAGA bs,” said Ella was doing well, and said she was spending the day with her.
