What is the plot of Jurassic World Rebirth?
Five years after Dominion, dinosaurs largely survive in isolated equatorial environments. A covert extraction team sets out to obtain DNA from three colossal creatures—one on land, one in the sea and one in the air—with the aim of developing a drug with life-saving benefits.
The operation collides with the story of Reuben Delgado and his family, whose boating expedition is capsized by aquatic dinosaurs. The survivors become stranded with the extraction team on a forbidden island that once housed a secret Jurassic Park research facility. There, they encounter a discovery that has remained hidden for decades. The official synopsis establishes that setup but does not disclose the nature of the discovery.

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment’s August 4, 2025, announcement said digital buyers could access over one hour of exclusive bonus content through participating retailers. The listed extras included an alternate opening, deleted scenes, production features and filmmaker commentaries. That was the studio’s offer description at the time; check the specific retailer and edition to see which extras, if any, are currently included. Universal also lists a separate seven-movie collection for viewers seeking the wider franchise.
What the director said about the film
Gareth Edwards described the original Jurassic Park as an influence on the new film’s tone. NBCUniversal attributed this statement to the director:
“Jurassic Park is perfect pure cinema. You’re never going to get close to beating what Steven did with the original, and I never once thought I could. But I do hope we’ve made a film that’s worthy of it. Jurassic World Rebirth should feel as if Universal went into the vault and found a movie that they’d forgotten they’d made, a sequel to Jurassic Park from the nineties, with the vibe and style of the original.”
