Renner, through a representative and his attorney, denied her account and offered a conflicting description of their relationship. The reporting reviewed here does not independently establish the allegations, authenticate a complete message exchange, or settle whether the dispute was resolved.
What Yi Zhou alleged
The Los Angeles Times reported on Nov. 9, 2025, that Zhou said in social media posts that Renner sent her unsolicited explicit images beginning in June 2025. She also described their first physical encounter as nonconsensual, while saying later interactions became consensual. These are Zhou’s allegations, not established findings.
Zhou further alleged that Renner threatened to contact immigration authorities, including ICE, after she confronted him. The Los Angeles Times quoted a Renner representative as saying: “The accusations being made by this individual are totally inaccurate and untrue.”
What Renner and his attorney said
Renner’s attorney, Martin Singer, disputed Zhou’s account. In a separate report, The Independent reported on Nov. 8, 2025, that Singer said Renner and Zhou had one brief consensual encounter. Singer also alleged that Zhou later sent explicit messages and pursued Renner. Those statements are the attorney’s account; the reviewed reporting does not independently establish either side’s description of the relationship or encounter.
The Independent also reported that Zhou shared a partial alleged text reading, “Immigration will be notified of your —”. The rest of the message was not shared with the Daily Mail, according to that account. The fragment does not establish the complete wording, context, or authenticity of an exchange.
What is publicly established about the dispute
The Los Angeles Times described social media posts and supposed messages, while The Independent reported the partial alleged text. The reviewed articles do not authenticate the full alleged message exchange or provide an independent adjudication of the competing accounts. Readers should therefore distinguish the reported allegations and denials from verified findings.

The Los Angeles Times reported that both sides sent cease-and-desist notices. CNA Lifestyle reported that Renner’s legal team demanded Zhou stop what it characterized as defamatory communications. These reported legal notices reflect the parties’ dispute; they do not resolve the underlying allegations.

No final agreement is established in the reviewed reporting. In a later account, The Independent reported on Nov. 17, 2025, that Zhou claimed she and Renner had reached a “peaceful and mutually respectful resolution.” Singer denied that a deal had been reached, saying: “There was no deal reached with Yi Zhou to resolve my client Jeremy Renner’s substantial multi-million dollar claims against her.” The public accounts therefore conflict, and the reviewed sources do not establish a subsequent legal outcome.
