What did Jenny Slate say about filming It Ends With Us?
According to The Independent’s account of the unsealed court material, Slate wrote: “a really gross and disturbing shoot, and I’m one of many who feel [this] way”. Where did the comment come from?

- IT ENDS WITH US tells the empowering story of Lily Bloom. Grappling with a painful past, Lily embarks on a new life in Boston and opens her own flower shop. After falling in love with Ryle, Lily begins to see sides of him that remind her of her dangerous father. With the support of her friends and allies, Lily must find her own strength to break the pattern or the pattern will break her.
What was Slate’s role in the film?
Slate played the sister of Justin Baldoni’s character in It Ends With Us, the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel. That is context for her connection to the production, not evidence that the book confirms her account.

The reported message is distinct from allegations or testimony presented in litigation, and neither the reporting nor the fact that a message appeared in court material makes Slate’s characterization a judicial finding. Claims made by parties or witnesses should remain attributed to those speakers unless a court has actually decided them.

The proceedings also involve distinct actions. An August 26, 2026 opinion states that the Lively action settled in May 2026 and discusses subsequent proceedings in the related Wayfarer action. Those developments do not change the status of Slate’s message: it remains a reported private comment, not a court ruling about the production.
