During the show’s October 6 broadcast, Behar responded to the birthday surprise with characteristic reluctance: “I can’t get excited. I’m just glad I’m alive, okay?”
How The View marked Behar’s birthday
As Behar entered the studio, the audience and her co-hosts cheered. Upbeat music played, and a “Happy Birthday Joy” sign greeted her. Behar covered her face and urged the panel to continue the show, turning the celebration into a brief, comic interruption rather than a prolonged tribute. The contemporaneous report placed the celebration on Friday, October 6—the day before her October 7 birthday.

Asked about the moment, Behar said she was glad to be alive and joked about reaching a point when you wake up thinking you are still here. Her remarks were part of the on-air exchange; they should not be read as a broader statement about her private outlook.
A birthday-week conversation about getting older
On October 5, The View: Behind the Table published a 20-minute conversation between Behar and executive producer Brian Teta. The episode listing says they discussed why Behar felt “privileged to be getting older,” along with storytelling and other topics. The listing is a description, not a transcript, so it does not establish additional verbatim comments. The episode listing also mentions a New York City performance scheduled at the time; that event is historical, not a current date or recommendation.

Why The View’s tribute carried extra history
Behar’s connection to the program stretches back to its start. According to her official The View biography, she was part of the original cast for 16 years and returned as a co-host in September 2015. That long association helps explain why the show marked the milestone on air, even as Behar tried to move the conversation along.
The same biography describes her work in stand-up, television, film, and theater. Those details place the birthday moment in the context of a career that has included both comedy and a defining, long-running role on daytime television.
