Anime-only readers will encounter spoilers beyond the adapted story.
Several major characters die, but apparent deaths, sealing, possession and reincarnation complicate the list. The entries below are a practical selection of recurring characters and consequential antagonists, organized by when their first confirmed death occurs—not a count of every named or unnamed casualty. The manga is complete; Shonen Jump lists volume 30 as its final volume.

Major deaths in story order
“Confirmation point” describes where the story establishes the character’s death; it is not a chapter-by-chapter guide. Exact circumstances and chronology are best checked against the manga.
| Arc or period | Character | Confirmation point | Cause or responsible character |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jujutsu Kaisen 0 aftermath | Suguru Geto | After the events of the prequel | Geto dies; Kenjaku later takes control of his body. |
| Shibuya Incident | Kokichi Muta (Mechamaru) | During the events leading into Shibuya | Dies after fighting Mahito. |
| Shibuya Incident | Kento Nanami | During the Shibuya battle | After being grievously injured, he is killed by Mahito. |
| Shibuya Incident | Toji Fushiguro | During the Shibuya events | His return through a séance-like technique ends with his death; he takes his own life after recognizing Megumi. |
| After Shibuya | Masamichi Yaga | After the higher-ups order his execution | Killed following the decision to execute him. |
| Zenin clan confrontation | Mai Zenin | During the aftermath of the confrontation | Her final act enables Maki’s transformation. |
| Culling Game | Yuki Tsukumo | During her fight with Kenjaku | Dies in the battle against Kenjaku. |
| Culling Game | Tsumiki Fushiguro | During the fight involving Sukuna and Yorozu | Yorozu, possessing Tsumiki, is killed by Sukuna inhabiting Megumi’s body; Tsumiki does not survive. |
| Shinjuku Showdown | Satoru Gojo | After returning from the Prison Realm | Killed in his fight with Sukuna. |
| Shinjuku Showdown | Hajime Kashimo | After challenging Sukuna | Dies in the fight against Sukuna. |
| Shinjuku Showdown | Kenjaku | After his encounter with Takaba | Yuta carries out the decisive attack. |
| Shinjuku Showdown | Choso | During the battle against Sukuna | Sacrifices himself to protect Yuji. |
| Manga’s conclusion | Ryomen Sukuna | Near the end of the final conflict | Defeated and separated from Megumi; the ending frames his fate as a defeat/death rather than an ordinary human death. |
Cases that can look like deaths—but are not the same
Gojo is sealed before he dies
Gojo’s removal from the conflict during Shibuya is a sealing, not a death. He later returns and dies fighting Sukuna. Treating those events as one would place his death in the wrong part of the story.

Nobara’s absence is not a confirmed death
Nobara is gravely injured and absent for a long stretch, but later returns. She should not be listed among confirmed deaths.
Geto’s body is not Geto’s continued life
The original Suguru Geto dies after Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Kenjaku later uses Geto’s body, but that does not mean Geto survived or that the person controlling the body is Geto.
Rank #2
Tsumiki’s apparent return is possession
Tsumiki’s body is possessed by Yorozu. The character’s apparent reappearance does not establish that Tsumiki survived; she is killed when Sukuna fights Yorozu.
Sukuna’s ending is not a conventional human death
Sukuna is defeated and separated from Megumi near the conclusion. Describing this simply as a typical human death obscures how the manga presents the outcome.

Why this is a major-deaths list, not a death count
The story also includes supporting-character deaths, Zenin clan members, cursed spirits and anonymous casualties, as well as deaths in flashbacks and cases involving reincarnation or reanimation. Whether those belong in a total depends on what is being counted. This guide focuses on consequential recurring characters and antagonists, and does not claim to list every casualty.
The anime’s official character and arc pages provide franchise context, but they do not establish every manga character’s final fate. The series’ ending is in the completed manga; volume 30 is identified by Shonen Jump as the final volume.
