At the 2025 Golden Globes, Jodie Foster thanked her family—including her wife, Alexandra Hedison—and spoke directly to her children about the joy of doing meaningful work. The coverage reviewed does not name her children in that speech passage, so it does not establish that she specifically identified them as her sons.
What did Jodie Foster say about her children?
Accepting the award for her performance in True Detective: Night Country, Foster addressed her children: “Hopefully you understand the joy, such joy, that comes from doing really hard, meaningful, good work.” Good Morning America transcribed the line in its coverage of the ceremony.

The passage refers to her children but does not name them. It is therefore more precise to say she spoke to her children than to claim that she named or singled out her sons in the 2025 speech.
Did she mention her wife, Alexandra Hedison?
Yes. Foster thanked her family, including her wife, Alexandra Hedison. The Independent described the acknowledgment as rare, but the reviewed coverage does not provide a count or comparison that would establish how often Foster discusses her family. The moment is best understood as a brief family acknowledgment within her acceptance speech.

Foster’s 2013 Cecil B. DeMille Award speech is separate historical context, not a transcript of what she said in 2025. In that earlier speech, she named Cydney Bernard and her sons Charlie and Kit. Those names should not be attributed to the 2025 Golden Globes remarks.
