Jimmy Kimmel used a Jimmy Kimmel Live monologue on November 5, 2025, to mock Donald Trump’s response to Democratic victories in the November 4 elections. The segment, recapped by Rolling Stone on November 6, focused on Trump’s explanation for Republican losses and Kimmel’s jokes about whether Trump would accept credit if Republicans had won.
Which election results did Kimmel discuss?
Rolling Stone described the election as a strong night for Democrats. It highlighted Zohran Mamdani’s victory in the New York City mayoral race and Democratic wins in major East Coast contests and smaller Southern races. The Associated Press’s November 4 election-night report also reported Democratic victories in New York City and in the New Jersey and Virginia governor’s races.

Kimmel’s monologue was a comedy response to those results, not a neutral account of why voters chose particular candidates.
What did Kimmel say about Trump?
Kimmel’s central punchline, as quoted by Rolling Stone, was: “Everything he touched was a loser.” He was referring to Trump’s involvement in the election and the Republican candidates who lost; the line was a joke, not a measurable finding about Trump’s influence.

Rolling Stone reported that Kimmel cited Trump’s explanation that he had not been on the ballot and that the government shutdown contributed to Republican losses. The AP separately reported Trump’s post-election statement on Truth Social: “TRUMP WASN’T ON THE BALLOT.” The AP account also describes Trump attributing losses to the shutdown and his absence from the ballot.
Kimmel then asked, in effect, whether Trump would have taken credit for Republican victories had the results gone the other way. That was Kimmel’s hypothetical joke, not evidence of how Trump would have responded in that scenario.

What else was in the monologue?
Rolling Stone’s recap says Kimmel also showed Trump’s post, “And so it begins,” and joked about what it meant. The recap describes Kimmel criticizing what he characterized as Republican claims of election fraud and discussing the federal government shutdown. It does not independently assess the validity of fraud allegations.
The segment also touched on a food-donation center set up by the show at the ABC backlot in Hollywood. According to Rolling Stone, the effort was intended to help St. Joseph Center and the Los Angeles Food Bank, and Kimmel connected it to concerns about SNAP benefits. Those details are reported in the recap rather than independently verified there.

What the recap establishes—and what it does not
The available accounts establish the broad subjects and several lines from Kimmel’s monologue, but they are not a complete official transcript of the episode. They also do not provide official canvass totals for the races mentioned. Rolling Stone said Mamdani won more than 50 percent of the vote but did not give an exact percentage in its recap.
