Jim Carrey’s longtime Brentwood home went into contract in December 2024, after its asking price had fallen from $28.9 million to $19.75 million. The later reported final sale price was $17 million, although 2024 coverage gave a different figure, so the sale price remains inconsistent across reports.
From listing to contract: how the price changed
| Stage | Reported price | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Carrey’s reported purchase in 1994 | $3.8 million | SFGATE reported this as the original purchase price; it is not a calculation of Carrey’s profit. |
| First listed in early 2023 | $28.9 million | The initial asking price, reported by Mansion Global and Realtor.com. |
| May 2024 | $21.9 million | Realtor.com reported this asking-price reduction. |
| September 2024 | $19.75 million | The asking price when the home was reported to have entered contract later that year. |
| Reported completed sale | $17 million or $19.8 million | Realtor.com’s October 2026 retrospective gives $17 million; SFGATE reported $19.8 million in 2024. |
The $28.9 million-to-$19.75 million reduction was $9.15 million, often rounded in headlines to $10 million. That is a change in the asking price, not evidence of the home’s market value. And $19.75 million was the contract-stage asking price—not the reported completed sale price.
What is known about the sale
Mansion Global reported the property entered contract in December 2024. The buyer was described as unknown in SFGATE’s sale coverage. Later accounts do not agree on the completed price: Realtor.com’s October 2026 retrospective says $17 million, while SFGATE reported $19.8 million in 2024. Without an authoritative transaction record to resolve that discrepancy, the two figures should not be treated as interchangeable or as a single verified amount.
Inside the Brentwood estate
The property is at 615 North Tigertail Road in Brentwood, Los Angeles. Mansion Global described a 10,954-square-foot house built in 1951 on about two acres, with five bedrooms. Reported features include a guest house, an Art Deco-style theater, a circular sunroom, gardens, a tennis court, and a pool with a waterfall. Realtor.com also mentioned a yoga space and wine cellar. Bathroom counts vary among reports, so they are not included here.

Carrey’s art and memorabilia were not part of the sale
