How far along is Season 5?
The interview’s accessible description does not verify how far along Season 5 was when Renner spoke. Later official announcements provide a clearer production timeline:
- January 5, 2026: Paramount+ renewed the series for an eight-episode fifth and final season. Paramount Press Express announcement.
- March 13, 2026: Paramount+ announced that production had begun in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. David Morse joined the cast as FBI agent Russell Hardy. The announced premise says Hardy arrives after Tracy’s murder and the vengeance against Callahan, threatening to uncover Mike’s secrets and disturb Kingstown’s balance of power. - August 31, 2026: Paramount+’s Season 5 guide said no premiere date had been announced as of its update. Check the official Season 5 guide.
So, as of October 8, 2026, production had officially started, but the cited official guide did not give a release date. The production announcement is a later update than Renner’s December interview and should be read as subsequent news, not as what he said in that conversation.
